Coming from Turkey, Duygu Altin is currently a visiting researcher at the University of Amsterdam (UvA), supported by a Jean Monnet scholarship, where she feels fortunate to work under the supervision of Professor Reinout Wiers.

After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Bogazici University and working briefly as a psychologist in the private sector, Duygu joined the Turkish Probation Services in 2006, where she focuses on supporting clients with drug and alcohol addiction. In addition to leading both group and individual therapy sessions, she contributes to the development and piloting of psychological intervention programs (primarily CBT, Motivational Interviewing (MI), and mindfulness-based approaches), while also providing training to professionals at the ministerial level.

She is an expert member of the Confederation of European Probation (CEP) Mental Health Group. Alongside her Master’s and PhD in Drug Addiction from Ege University’s Institute of Health Sciences, she has received formal CBT training. Her experience also includes developing online addiction interventions using a transdiagnostic approach. Her hobbies are playing the drums, attending book club, and practicing wushu (international referee).
